Alpharma upgrades with Packline powered lifts

Generics manufacturer Alpharma has equipped its plant at Barnstaple with Compac mobile powered lifts from Packline.

Several lifting operations must be performed each day at the plant, one being the replacement of high-speed blister packing machine reels, which can weigh up to 80kg. A mobile lift was called for and the Compac was chosen as the most suitable for the pharmaceutical environment.

It is completely self-contained with an in-built charging unit. It also has very simple controls. As it is built entirely from stainless steel, there is no paint to chip. The design also eliminates all sharp corners and crevices, making the Compac easy to keep clean.

The lifting mechanism is operated by a lead screw system, which is fully enclosed and secures the lift in position in the event of a power failure.
