Amgen increases research budget

Los Angeles, US-based biotechnology giant Amgen is to increase its spending on r&d and marketing by 15% next year. Chief executive Kevin Sharer told a healthcare conference in San Francisco that r&d spending will rise to US$875m in 2001, accounting for 23% of revenues.
