Aseptic cavity pumps from Netzsch
The Netzsch Pumps SA and BA range of aseptic progressing cavity pumps for the pharmaceutical industry is the only 'standard' aseptic range of progressing cavity pumps available, claims the company.
The SA/BA pumps were designed with the cooperation of the authoritative EHEDG (European hygienic equipment design group) working group and have been awarded a 3A certificate. They also meet the requirements of EC machinery directive 98/37/EEC; EN 809 10/98; EN 12462 10/98; ISO 14159; and FDA regulations.
The specifications of the aseptic range include double sealed aseptic connections with a sterile fluid barrier on all joints to atmosphere; product joints with mating connection to suit either DIN or ISO standard tube; titanium flexible connecting rods; and tandem double mechanical seals. SA/BA pumps are also available with sterilisation to 140°C for up to 30 mins.
The pump body is now bolted to the bearing housing, forming an integral pressure-containing component and separating the bearing house from the process pressure.
The design allows the pump to operate in forward or reverse directions at the same pressure. The tie rods, which in conventional designs run the length of the pump and can tighten or loosen due to changes in temperature, now retain only the stator. Besides allowing the pumps to operate over a wider range of temperatures, this feature also makes maintenance much easier and simplifies the fitting of heating jackets.
The 22-pump SA/BA range covers capacities from approximately 25m³/h to 120m³/h and pressures up to 12 bar. Models are available in close or long coupled configurations and can be specified with a number of single or double mechanical seals and different process connections.
