Astellas hires two

Astellas Pharma Global Development (APGD), a subsidiary of Astellas Pharma based in Tokyo, Japan, has hired Dr Peter Carberry as senior vice president and head of global development operations. Prior to joining Astellas, Carberry was vice president of clinical operations, development planning and performance analysis and the office of international development at Genentech.

In addition, Astellas has appointed Walt Johnston as vice president of marketing. Johnston will be responsible for leading all strategic marketing activities for on market and development products for the US business.

Before joining Astellas, Johnston worked at Pfizer for more than 18 years and last held the position of national sales director at Vista Rx. Most recently he was accountable for driving sales initiatives for Lipitor and Caduet.
