Attendance figures set a new record

Attendance figures at CPhI 2002 beat all previous records, with the number of individual visitors exceeding 10,000, a rise of 3% compared with the exhibition held two years ago in Milan. (A comparison with 2001 would be meaningless, says the organiser, as last year's event was so badly affected by the terrorist attacks of 11 September.)

A total of 1142 companies exhibited, compared with 977 last year, with much of the increase coming from the biotech sector. A further 110 companies involved in pharmaceutical outsourcing participating in ICSE.
