AxFlow UK's Mouvex SLC series of eccentric disc pumps is for multiple fluid handling applications within the chemical and sanitary industries. The three-model series is capable of high volumetric efficiency while maintaining its gentle fluid handling characteristics.

Building on the Mouvex C series, the SLC pumps provide higher differential pressures from 6 and 16 bar. They are also of a lighter and more compact design and have a close-coupled drive.

The Mouvex SLC Series pumps are designed to self-compensate for mechanical wear and maintain a consistent flow over time. The eccentric disc technology that is unique to the pumps produces the performance of a positive displacement pump, creating a flow that is independent of both pressure and viscosity. This makes it ideally suited to applications where the pumped media contains solids and abrasives, the company says.

Other features include a seal-free design, self-priming, low shear and low agitation of the pumped product, line stripping, the ability to run dry for up to five minutes and CIP capability.

Applications include handling thin, abrasive, aggressive and higher viscosity fluids (10,000cps) typically encountered in the chemicals industry.

The main Mouvex pump does not agitate the liquid. Instead the eccentric movement of the oscillating piston within the pump chamber, which is a very gentle action, does the pumping. The direct-drive design of the pump does not require either mechanical seals or magnets, so it provides leak-free performance.

The eccentric movement pump consists of a cylinder and a pumping element mounted on an eccentric shaft. As the eccentric shaft rotates, the pumping element creates chambers within the cylinder. This has the effect of increasing the size of the intake port and drawing fluid into the pumping chamber. The fluid is transported to the discharge port where the size of the pumping chamber decreases. The action squeezes the fluid out into the discharge pipework.

Providing a maximum flow rate of 3m3/h, Mouvex SLC pumps can be configured with either NEMA or IEC motors.
