BCDTA and BACS set up further trade body

Published: 2-Mar-2001

A trade body is to be formed between the British Chemical Distributors and Traders Association and the British Association for Chemical Specialities. The organisation, called the Federation of Chemical Associations (Focas), will operate in addition to both founder bodies, which will retain their present identities. The aim of Focas is to provide member companies with 'focused and effective representation' and an 'expanded portfolio of services'.

It is intended to provide an authoritative voice on industry issues covering the whole supply chain, according to BCDTA chairman Melvyn Whyte of Whyte Chemicals. It reflects, he said, the structural changes, consolidation and legislative considerations that have affected the chemicals industry in the past few years. Work on defining the details of Focas is to take place over the next few months.
