Biogen breaks new ground

Global biotechnology company Biogen has broken ground on a large-scale manufacturing facility in Hillerod, Denmark. At 34,000m2, it will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world with 90,000l of bioreactor capacity. It represents an investment of US$250m (€233m) and is Biogen's first major international manufacturing plant.

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2005. It will be used to manufacture multiple products in the company's growing pipeline and will create some 200 jobs.
