Schreiner MediPharm introduces low-cost way to comply with the new Braille requirement

Following the new EU directive that came into effect on 1 September, 2006 requiring pharmaceutical packaging to be marked Braille, Schreiner MediPharm has introduced an easy and low-cost way to comply with the new requirement without the need to change existing packaging.

The company has launched special labels can be screen-printed with braille to produce a particularly high dot projection of 300µm. The labels are simply applied to the boxes or containers and may be equipped with additional functions such as detachable label parts or booklets.

The solution has passed the practical test performed by subjects from the Unterschleissheim school for the blind, the company says.
