Swedish air filter and clean air solution specialist Camfil is to purchase 100% of Handte Umwelttechnik of Germany for an undisclosed sum.
Handte, which has operations in Switzerland, Czech Republic and China, will become part of Camfil Air Pollution Control (APC), a specialist in industrial dust and fume collection.
The transaction, which needs approval from the authorities in Germany, is expected to close in the first quarter this year.
Handte is a leading German manufacturer and provider of environmental engineering products, filter technology processes and air pollution control applications. With more than 120 years of experience, the company is a recognised specialist in exhaust air purification for a range of manufacturing industries.
'Handte has a full line of dust collectors, mist collectors and wet scrubbers that strategically complement the Farr Gold Series cartridge dust collection line,' said Camfil APC's President Lee Morgan.
'The integration of these product lines will broaden our portfolio and strengthen the company’s industrial air pollution control offerings to customers in the US and internationally.'
Jakob Handte, former shareholder of Handte Umwelttechnik, who will become Chief Technology Officer of Camfil APC, added: 'Camfil was our preferred strategic partner for Handte Group which completed [the] financial year 2013 on [a] record level. I am looking forward to further develop the APC business of Camfil on a worldwide basis in my new function.'
Key applications for Handte's products include metalworking and machining, automotive, foundry, mining, and dry processing industries including chemical, food and pharmaceutical.
