Ceetak makes a seal breakthrough
Ceetak, a supplier of elastomeric seals, has developed what it believes is a technological breakthrough in high performance seal compounds.
Hifluor is a new compound that has been developed from traditional fluorocarbon polymer chains by introducing a greater degree of fluorination. This improves the compression set while maintaining the compound's chemical stability. The innovation, which adds a flexible element to traditional polymer compounds, is encapsulated in the Hifluor range of O-ring, gasket and moulded shape seals.
The resulting high fluorinated seal combines the chemical stability of perfluoroelastomers with superior elastic properties and performance characteristics.
Ceetak's Hifluor range is ideal for the aggressive environments found in the pharmaceutical industry, and since the seals produced with Hifluor will operate in temperatures ranging from -25°C to +260°C, they have been formulated to safeguard lower deformation at various temperatures, thereby providing a more consistent sealing force and less leakage.
Andrew Kownacki, Ceetak's technical director, commented: 'Existing perfluoroelastomers provide expensive but versatile sealing solutions for a number of industries. The new Hifluor seals offer a similar level of resistance alongside excellent temperature stability and low compression sets ; but are extremely cost competitive.'
