Cellectricon opens US unit
Cellectricon, a Swedish biotechnology company and provider of cell-based assays, has opened Cellectricon, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary to be based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Peter Tunon has been retained as the company's president and Thomas Guiel as its chief operating officer.
Cellectricon, Inc. will provide sales and technical support and further expand the company's presence in the US and Canada in response to growing demand for the Dynaflow Proficient (Pro) System, a novel device for ion channel drug screening based on a proprietary microfluidic chip that attaches to conventional patch-clamp based system.
'Sales of the Dynaflow System grew tremendously during 2004 and more than eight of the top 10 pharma companies already use our platform,' said Ulf Joensson, ceo of Cellectricon. 'The opening of our US subsidiary brings local and competent support to our growing number of customers in US.'
