A number of coding developments will be on show at this year's PPMA show, being held at the NEC, Birmingham on 26-28 September.
Domino (UK) will reveal a major ink jet printing and coding solution (see feature on pages 85-87).
Integrated Solutions (IS) software capability is the latest addition to the company's range of "track and trace" intelligent coding control systems.
Domino's stand will demonstrate for the first time in the UK the company's "Traceability and Product Security Solution", a revolutionary technology that involves coding a Data Matrix number plate onto each product, which is then authenticated and validated online using a serialised product tracking system that captures, moves, and reads the data.
Lancashire based Sunala will launch a new version of its Pharmacarton Coding Station. The station is designed for in-line high resolution printing of lot, expiry and bar codes for pharmaceutical and medical cartons.
The new model, Sunala says, will resolve the issue of printing high density bar codes and 2D codes in-line by controlling the carton during the print and vision process.
Packaging software supplier Claricom will exhibit the latest versions of its Package Coding Management Software (PCMS) at the Interactive Coding Equipment (ICE) stand.
ClariSoft and ClariNet versions 4.309 incorporate new enhancements such as fully-automatic international date language support and new user interface languages, including Chinese and Portuguese.
The latest Datamatrix (2D) barcodes have been added to the software, which already features RSS (Reduced Space Symbology) barcodes.
The pharmaceutical sector is a significant market for Linx Printing Technologies, headquartered in Cambridgeshire, UK, which specialises in Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) and laser and outer case coders.
The 4900 CIJ printer can print up to two lines of text and logos at production line speeds of up to 6.25/secs, and can print onto "virtually any material" says Linx. The 4900 on show at PPMA will be using the new Linx Black ink 1075, which is alcohol and chemical resistant, and therefore suitable for the pharmaceutical and personal care industries.
