Combination given approval

The EC has granted marketing approval to Schering-Plough's peginterferon alfa-2b (Pegintron) injection and ribavirin (Rebetrol) capsules as combination therapy for the treatment of both relapsed and naive adult patients with chronic hepatitis C. Pegintron should be given as a sc injection once a week, and the ribavirin capsules twice a day.
