Counting on Electro-mec

Published: 1-Aug-2003

Contract packer Budelpack Rymney has installed an Electro-mec infeed magazine counting wheel system for the automatic counting and placing of blisterpacks into cartoner infeed slots. Working in conjunction with a CAM cartoner, the system replaces a hand feeding operation.

In addition to increased speeds, it offers highly accurate counting and placement thanks to the ability of its two-tier design to handle bowed or deformed packs without the system jamming or the reliability of the count being affected. An upper wheel helps to control the throughput of packs and relieves the pressure of the stack on the lower counting wheel, making the counting process much more reliable and accurate.

A single point of contact with each pack during counting allows a fast and flexible action, and where packs are not absolutely flat, avoids the problems of the more commonly used finger counting process where the packs can jam between the upper and lower fingers.
