Creating a stir in biotech sector

Mixing specialist Chemineer has introduced to the UK a range of magnet-coupled agitators for biotech and pharma applications requiring high levels of sterility.

The agitators need little maintenance and are designed to accommodate a wide variety of nozzles. They can be used for homogenisation to decrease concentration gradients to a minimum or to reduce temperature differences in miscible liquids.

During the dissolution stage of the process, the magnet-coupled agitators suspend solids, so that the whole surface of the particles is available for exchange of material. In addition, liquid with the greatest possible driving concentration difference is brought to the solid.
