de Villepin calls for UN database
French interior minister Dominique de Villepin has called for the creation of an international database to track potential bioterrorism threats.
He said a database: 'could include laboratories, an alert network for theft, disappearances and suspect transactions of sensitive products, [and] a list of those who attempted to acquire sensitive agents'. The minister suggested creating a global UN-linked watchdog, working with the WHO to investigate suspect ordering of products useful to bioterrorists.
