Direct strain control
Bohlin Instruments' digital DSP-based rheometers now feature a direct strain control oscillation unit.
The oscillation mode, which is available for the new C-VOR unit, means oscillation tests can be performed directly at a pre-set strain amplitude. It saves time by avoiding the need to iteratively adjust the stress amplitude on successive oscillation cycles to achieve a target strain. For curing or gelling systems, where rapid changes in modulus can lead to large variations in strain if a stress controlled test is performed, it is now possible to regulate the strain amplitude. This generates data points more rapidly and closely controls the sample's strain history.
Bohlin has also introduced partial wave analysis for the oscillation mode. This dispenses with the need to sample an entire waveform during an oscillation test.
