Dispensing to pharmacists

Published: 3-Jan-2006

The inaugural Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Pharmacist Awards have rewarded six pharmacists, - two each from England, Scotland and Wales - who have 'augmented: innovative practice that has improved the use of medicines; significant improvements in the quality of prescribing, dispensing or administering medicines; and service developments that ensure patient access to high-quality care and medicines'. The winners were Sarah Hiom, Roger Williams, Carole Brown, Diane Harris, Elizabeth Grant and Fiona Eastop, all of whom receive free tickets for this year's British Pharmaceutical Conference in Manchester.

'The UK-based pharmaceutical industry has long recognised how pharmacists can make a very real difference to patients through their expert knowledge of medicines, and these awards have been designed to reflect that,' said Martin Anderson, ABPI commercial affairs director. Applications for next year's awards, which are open to any practising pharmacist, can be obtained in due course from the ABPI.
