Dow Corning Corporation and Rohm & Haas have formed a long term strategic alliance that will create innovative materials and services to address unmet needs in wound care, transdermal and topical drug delivery and related medical device applications, over the next 10 year.

Dow Corning, a global leader in silicon-based technology, and Rohm & Haas, a leader in acrylic and adhesives technologies, will simplify product and application development for customers by providing a single interface to their combined capabilities.

This alliance is said to be the first to combine such knowledge of acrylic, silicone and hybrid technologies and will create new opportunities for both companies in the health care industry. 'The competencies and synergies will allow each company to expand current product applications to new customers and develop new product applications to meet customer needs,' said John Lyon, Dow Corning's life sciences business director.

Kevin Murphy, wound care program manager for Dow Corning said: 'The alliance will meet the needs of our customers through synergies, and address a broad range of clinical needs.' Henri Guiraud, global business manager for adhesives and sealants medical applications for Rohm & Haas, commented: 'This long term business alliance will fill an unmet demand for innovation in the market, cut development costs and offer new products, technologies and solutions.'
