EC case against Holland and Belgium

The European Commission is to take the Belgian and Dutch governments to the European Court of Justice, claiming that they have broken the EU animal experimentation directive. Belgium is alleged to allow tests on too many animals bred outside research establishments and the Netherlands fails to ban the use of certain endangered animal species and has inadequate safeguards on the release of animals.
