EU watchdog warns GHB precursor is easy to procure

The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) has warned of the widespread availability of a precursor (and substitute) for so-called liquid ecstasy GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid).


The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) has warned of the widespread availability of a precursor (and substitute) for so-called liquid ecstasy GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid).

The EU agency is concerned about the precursor GBL (gamma-butyrolactone), which has been sold as a dietary supplement, a solvent and aroma compound.
