Supply chain management company Exel is expanding its European healthcare campus in Cherwell, UK, to support pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.
This is now the largest, shared-user logistics centre in the UK servicing the requirements of the healthcare industry, the company claims.
Now totalling 33,000m2 and employing more than 300 people, the Cherwell campus provides an enhanced range of storage facilities and domestic distribution to hospitals, high street pharmacies, doctors' surgeries and wholesalers, as well as worldwide export services. Inventory management of a wide range of ambient and temperature-controlled products, from pharmaceuticals, high-value medical devices through to diagnostic reagents, is underpinned by Exel's Unison warehouse management technology, a system already implemented on a pan-European basis at the company's other healthcare campus locations.
Graham Inglis, president healthcare worldwide at Exel, said the extension of the Cherwell campus is a sign of the company's commitment to developing the most robust supply chain solutions for its customers: 'Building on its core strength in Europe, Cherwell is a key part of our global offering, providing the capacity to support our customers' growth plans and evermore exacting logistics requirements across the world.'
Exel also has specialist healthcare platforms in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Turkey.
