In line with its long-standing tradition and commitment in researching the effect of vitamins, carotenoids, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and other natural compounds on human health, Roche Vitamins has introduced its International Award for Innovative Research in Human Nutrition.

The award is established to encourage and recognise excellence in research that significantly broadens the understanding of the role of nutrition in human health, and special emphasis will be placed on naturally occurring dietary bioactive compounds.

The award is worth a total of €25,000 ($29,300) and will be granted every two years, starting in 2003. The closing date for submissions is 31 July, 2003. An international scientific advisory board will review the submissions and the award will be presented at the 9th European Nutrition Conference in Rome, Italy, which takes place from 1-4 October 2003.
