Generics trading site's scope to be expanded
An Internet-based trading platform for generic pharmaceuticals is to expand in the next few months to include a broader range of users from a wider area. Indiemed.com, which allows wholesalers and traders to source, order and carry out transactions online, aims to roll out its operations to include participants from industry and to include parallel imported products.
The site, backed by Alpharma, Intercare and William Ransom & Son, will operate auctions and vendor catalogues. Both forward and reverse auctions are planned, where users will be able to post offers to sell or make a request for a material to buy. The use of vendor catalogues is intended to make purchasing simpler for buyers. In summer, the site will be rolled out from the UK to users in Denmark and the Netherlands. It is hoped the site will further develop to accommodate players from a wide European platform.
