Get a feeling for textures with TA-XTPlus from SMS

A new-generation texture analyser, the TA-XTPlus, has been launched by Stable Micro Systems (SMS), of Godalming in the UK, that boasts a new and comprehensive software package.

The machine now has the ability to plug in peripheral instruments, enabling the data from other relevant test equipment to be collected simultaneously – for example temperature monitors to test gels or creams, and humidity monitors to test dry products such as tablet granules.

Multi-stage test programming facilities have also been incorporated so that the user can define individual arm-movement sequences at various speeds and distances, allowing the most complex test protocols to be established and eliminating the reliance on fixed library tests.

The TA-XTPlus has a speed range from 0.01mm/second to 40mm/s using 5kg and 30kg load cells. Speed can also alter in proportion to the height of the sample, so that products can be tested at a constant strain rate.
