The Ian Shott Enterprises Group has a new corporate identity - 'Excelsyn'. The brand will embrace all current and future activities of Ian Shott's organisation.

In Newcastle and Durham, UK, business operations include Excelsyn's management consulting and its engineering technology offerings. At the former ISD facility in Holywell, North Wales, Excelsyn will offer a range of services and technologies, from r&d to small-scale manufacture of pharmaceutical and speciality intermediates and ingredients.

'We are combining services and products that are relevant to the manufacture of pharmaceuticals including upstream intermediates in an integrated manner that is unusual in the industry,' said Excelsyn chairman Ian Shott. 'This allows us to help our customers in more areas of their business than any of our individual competitors.

'The new identity embraces our strategy which demands that all our businesses are now fully integrated and focused on delivering process excellence within the life science sector. As we continue to expand through the acquisition of compatible and complementary businesses, they too will be integrated within the portfolio.'

As part of the expansion Excelsyn has made four appointments:

Neil Gibbons is the operations director of its engineering technology business. He was previously business manager at Mitsui Babcock. He will be in charge of implementing and reviewing Excelsyn's new and on-going integrated maintenance programmes aimed at the pharma, biologic and biotech industries.

Paul Ryan is group finance director. He was previously with Rhodia Pharma Solutions.

Vincent Ward has been appointed head of procurement. He has been charged with implementing ISO 9000 accreditation across the company

Nick Smith is the new head of regulatory affairs. With 14 years' experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance, Smith will work across the board for the consultancy, development and engineering divisions of Excelsyn.
