IMA has 'Flexability'
IMA's cartoning division is continuing to expand its Flexa cartoner range with a model designed to handle vials at high speeds, one designed to be linked to a medium output blister packer and another for collapsible tubes. All models are finished in stainless steel and feature an easy-clean balcony design. Size changes can be carried out quickly via a colour touch screen and all machine movements are controlled by electronic cams, with operating profiles adjusted automatically as the machine is running.
The design lends itself to both intermittent and continuous motion, depending on the upstream equipment. For example, the new models for packing tubes and blister packs are both intermittent motion machines. The tube cartoner operates at up to 100 cartons/min and the blister cartoner at up to 170 cartons/min. However, the new vial cartoning model has been designed to be integrated into a vial sterilising, filling, stoppering and packing line and operates in continuous motion.
