Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), a leader in custom oligonucleotide synthesis, has opened its flagship European facility in Haasrode Research Park, Leuven, Belgium. The state-of-the-art, 2000m2 research and production site will serve IDT's customers throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Europe is IDT's most important market outside North America and the company has invested in the heart of Europe as part of its long-range strategy to serve the research community globally, according to Dr Joseph A. Walder, IDT's founder and ceo.
"Although our origins are in the US, IDT is now just as much a European company as an American one," he said. "We want researchers in Europe to benefit from IDT's commitment to innovation in oligo synthesis and we want to learn from our European colleagues how IDT can best support their research as the science and application of synthetic biology advances."
IDT is the largest supplier of custom nucleic acids in the US, and has manufacturing facilities in Coralville, Iowa; San Diego, California; and Leuven, Belgium.
