Interphex tops the 100 mark

More than 100 companies and organisations have now signed up to exhibit at Interphex, the UK's only dedicated exhibition for pharmaceutical manufacturing. And according to the organiser, Reed Exhibitions, the final number is expected to top 150 when the show opens on 21 May at the NEC, Birmingham.

'It appears the New Year has brought new confidence to the business community,' says marketing manager Sarah Pavlou. 'After the tragic events of September, there is now a determination that it is business as usual, and we are seeing a lot of interest on both the exhibitor and visitor fronts.

'These are also interesting times for the pharmaceutical sector. A number of new and maturing technologies are influencing the way the industry conducts research and makes its products,' she adds. 'Interphex will provide a focus for those wishing to explore these new avenues, and we expect the biotech and drug delivery features and the seminar programme to be particularly popular.'

The seminar programme is a free service for registered visitors, and although Reed says there will be plenty of capacity, spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Three key trade organisations have given their support to the programme and each will host a session across the three day event:

  • Innovation in pharmaceutical technology design – ISPE

  • GMP issues in the pharmaceutical industry – The Parenteral Society

  • Supply chain relationships in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries – Biotechnology Industry Association

    • Other sessions with speakers from industry and academia include:

  • Maintaining quality in a cost-effective environment

  • Trends in pharmaceutical research from an industry standpoint

  • R&d in the biotech industry
