IR process spectrometry

Siemens Automation and Drives is extending its process analytics range with a spectrometer for measurements in the near infrared (NIR) band. Sinis A is an acusto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) spectrometer, which is available in two versions for transmission and reflection measurement. It enables both solid samples and highly absorbent fluids to be examined without contact. SINIS A performs analysis and online control tasks in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as in the food, paper and beverage sectors.

Both transmission and reflection versions have a monochromator, which operates without moving parts and has a high light intensity. This means that the Sinis A is a versatile and robust routine device for use under difficult process conditions. By remotely connecting the measurement probe via optical fibres, the device can also be installed outside the process. This is an advantage wherever there is little space available or where special safety or hygiene rules apply. It also offers a wide range of operating temperatures, a high degree of dust and splash guard, an optional profibus connection.
