Johnson & Johnson Consumer France has expanded its portfolio of pharmaceutical skin care products through the acquisition of Biapharm, a producer and marketer of skin care products centred on the leading brand Biafine.


Johnson & Johnson Consumer France has expanded its portfolio of pharmaceutical skin care products through the acquisition of Biapharm, a producer and marketer of skin care products centred on the leading brand Biafine.

Subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the deal is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Biafine is the best known skin healing brand on the French market and is widely used to treat radiotherapy burns.

Headquartered in Houdan, France, Biapharm is a holding company that controls 100% of Laboratoire Medix (the group's main operating company). Other products marketed by Medix include complementary skin care brands Aloplastine and Effidia, a promising scab-healing product.

Johnson & Johnson Consumer France is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Based in Issy-Les-Moulineaux, it has 542 employees and markets such well-known skin care brands as RoC and Neutrogena as well as the Compeed wound care brand.
