Labelling system completely automated

MAP8O Systems, from Wokingham, UK, is launching a new version of its Prisym labelling software that will allow companies to automate completely their labelling function and maximise the efficiency and accuracy of their product identification and tracking systems.

Taking on board customer comments and requests, and the latest technological advances in data capture and RFID, MAP8O has developed a new version, which is at the core of the new Prisymtextile labelling software to be launched later this year. It will be able to drive Sato and Zebra RFID printers and Domino inkjet printers. This gives companies a huge range of options for label printing from a single platform.

An addition to Prisym's label design features is the multiple 'key fields' that can be set allowing for many different variables to be gathered from databases and included in labels at print time. This enables better cross-referencing of products using the variable information printed on the label, which means individual products can be traced more easily and accurately. Also included are label sets for producing different labels relating to the same job, which can be printed simultaneously from different printers, saving time and improving efficiency. Barcodes for inclusion in a label design can be selected from visual representations as well as a listing making it easier for users to select the right barcode.

Other new features include the ability to embed a 'picture block' as a background when designing labels. This is useful for designing formats for label stock with preprinted features such as watermarks. Text blocks with instructions for print time can be attached to label designs so that they pop up on the screen when the labels are about to be printed.
