Laetus is acquired by Danaher
Change of ownership will help Laetus grow through increased scale and access to complementary capabilities
Laetus, a specialist in inline quality inspection and track and trace systems, has been acquired by Danaher for an undisclosed sum.
Germany-based Laetus, formerly owned by Coesia of Italy, will operate as an independent business within the US firm's Product Identification Platform.
Danaher, based in Washington, DC in the US, already owns coding and marking company Videojet and has been building its presence in process-based industries such as pharmaceuticals, having earlier this year completed the purchase of filtration specialist Pall for US$13.8bn.
Other companies within the Product Identification Platform include Esko, Xrite, Pantone, Wolke, Linx and FOBA.
This is an exciting next step in the development of Laetus
Alex Lever, Managing Director of Laetus, said this is an exciting next step in the development of Laetus. 'We will strengthen our existing solution offerings through continued investment in research and development while benefitting from Danaher’s established software capabilities and global presence,' he said.
He added: 'The addition of Laetus to the Danaher Product Identification team enhances the breadth of innovative solutions we offer to the packaging value chain.'
Christoph Staub, General Manager for the Track and Trace business at Laetus, said: 'This acquisition reaffirms the Laetus strategy and accomplishments to date; our team is excited to be joining a strong company focused on growth and innovation.'
Laetus was founded in 1974 and has installed its Argus, Polyphem, and Inspect solutions across identification, fill inspection, and other quality control applications. With its Secure Track and Trace Solution (S-TTS), Laetus also develops supply chain solutions for the pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetics and FMCG industries enabling the requirements of all regulations regarding anticounterfeiting to be fulfilled.
Laetus employs around 200 people and has direct sales and engineering operations in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, the US, China, India, Brazil, and Mexico.
