Laminar Medica launches validated off-the-shelf insulated shipper

Published: 19-Jan-2002

A new GDP compliant, off-the-shelf insulated shipper range for temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and biotech products has been launched by Laminar Medica, the manufacturer and designer of transit packaging for the cold-chain. Introduced as an alternative to the company's traditional bespoke shippers created by individual validation process, the Chilltherm range of 2-8°C validated shippers is suitable for everything from local to global shipments.

The range of eight containers can accommodate product volumes from 1.7 up to 470l for transit durations from 24 to 96 hours. It is aimed both at large pharmaceutical companies which either do not have the time for validation development or need to buy time to carry out bespoke validation development, and at small to medium enterprises, which have considered a bespoke validated solution too costly.

Protocols have been devised for the whole range, taking into account both summer and winter shipments, utilising the same materials throughout but with different configurations for hot and cold cycles. Supporting data can be acquired to demonstrate GDP compliance and validation documentation that will satisfy FDA and MCA requirements is also available. All components are manufactured by Laminar Medica to ISO 9001.

The range will be extended early next year to include fully validated vacuum insulation solutions, as well as validated dry ice shippers to keep products frozen in transit.
