Live from CPhI: Promens’ ClearVial cuts out production stages
Offers the same strength and barrier as glass
Promens Medical Packaging, a Danish manufacturer of specialist plastic packaging products for the pharmaceuticals sector, and a division of the Icelandic Promens Group, has introduced ClearVial plastic bottles, which are made from Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC), in 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100ml sizes.
ClearVial is manufactured and packed in Class C cleanroom facilities and can be delivered sterile ready for use, cutting out the prewash and drying stages and speeding up production and reducing costs.
The containers are transparent, lightweight and have good impact strength, again saving production stops as well as wastage caused by broken vials. Being transparent they are also easier to inspect than other plastic vials.
Promens’ managing director Henrik Wiboltt says ClearVials offer the same strength and barrier as glass and are safe for hazardous drugs.
They are available in both clear and amber for light protection and offer cold and heat resistance, as well as supporting irradiation and lyophilisation. They are also autoclavable.
In cases where a standard format is not applicable, Promens offers customised solutions and is flexible in terms of order sizes, packing requirements and delivery.
