Low volume powder dispenser acts fast

Dispensing of powders for drug production is a tedious job as most powders have variable characteristics. Factors such as particle size and electrostatics can pose a challenge when distributing small amounts of powder at high precision. However, German company Zinsser Analytic believes it has a powder dispensing solution that will save both time and material use.

As speed is a major cost factor in drug development it is crucial to have already eliminated unsuitable compounds at the final development stage. This means carrying out a large number of tests using small amounts of substance. Zinsser Analytic has developed technology for high precision dispensing of small amounts of dry material, enabling 2mg of starting material to be distributed to 96 wells, filling each with approximately 21µg of substance.

The company can offer a range of fully automated systems with full integration of powder distribution, liquid pipetting, weighing, and barcode tracking database import/export, thus opening up new possibilities for miniaturised screening and analytical processes.
