The Board of Directors of Lyonbiopole, a cluster of French companies focused on developing products to tackle infectious diseases and cancers, has appointed Florence Agostino-Etchetto as General Manager, effective from 3 June. She succeeds Yves Laurent, who has been in the role since January 2008 and now wishes to devote himself fully to his entrepreneurial activity at IMEBIO, a pioneer in biosafety infrastructure.
Agostino-Etchetto takes over the leadership of Lyonbiopole as it enters a new phase of development and has to meet the new challenges assigned by the French government for the next 5-year period.
From 2013 to 2018, Lyonbiopole will increasingly position itself as the leader of a life sciences cluster for the Rhône-Alpes region, with a stronger focus on the economic development of its members while developing relationships with academic research and hospital sector actors.
Agostino-Etchetto joined the Lyonbiopole team last September as Innovation Director. Previously, she worked at the Hospices Civils de Lyon, where she held various positions including Deputy Director of Biology and Pathological Anatomy Direction, as well as Deputy Director of the Clinical Research and Innovation Direction.
She is a Hospital Director, graduating from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique in 1999 (ex ENSP), following studies in law and political science.
