A compact mid-range blisterpacking line that can be changed and cleaned in less than an hour is being launched by IWKA PacSystems, UK subsidiary of German manufacturer IWK Verpackungs-technik.
Measuring 7.8m in length, the line consists of two servo driven machines, the BP10 blister packer and Cartopac intermittent motion SI 10 cartoner, linked by a direct blister transfer mechanism. It can operate at 330 blisters/min and 165 cartons/min.
'The new line is aimed at short to medium run blisterpacking where regular changeover is required,' says Derek Moore, md at IWKA PacSystems. 'Including cleaning this takes less than an hour although the purely mechanical changeover can be achieved in under 20 minutes.'
Also on display will be the low cost TFS 10 tube filling and closing machine. This model is able to handle both metal and plastic tubes at speeds up to 70 tubes/min and is said to cost 40% less than comparable machinery.
