Need for increasing sensitivity
Sensitivity is a key factor for finding contaminants such as wire and swarf. Until recently the performance levels demanded by producers of healthcare and pharmaceutical products have been difficult to achieve, but Fortress Technology says it has now developed detectors that can consistently achieve the highest levels of performance within the production environment. Identifying the smallest sphere is essential particularly where the orientation of the wire needs to be considered. In these situations a change in sensitivity of 0.5mm can equate to a wire length of 29mm or greater, subject to material and diameter.
To complement the metal detector, Fortress offers a full data management package, Contact, that can provide the user with data that can play an important part within quality control procedures. Using existing company Ethernet bus, or direct wiring, the metal detectors can be connected to a conveniently located computer for information reporting. The system is designed to be fully compatible with an off-the-shelf database package so that in addition to producing reports in a standard format the user can easily generate custom reports.
