Networking results in savings
UK pharmaceutical wholesaler Dowelhurst has made annual cost savings of £110,000 (€160,000) since commissioning its system of networked thermal transfer printers. The system consists of 12 high-resolution Puma printers, Windows-compatible software for label design, and various consumables, all supplied by Thame-based Advanced Labelling Systems (ALS).
The Pumas print product details and patient information at 300dpi onto various labels ranging from 2x10mm to 40x80mm. The system is housed in a dedicated print room and is controlled through ALS's EtiCAD software package, which offers on-screen label design capabilities.
As well as the overall saving - of which consumables alone account for around £90,000 - the installation has also resolved the problem of a potential bottleneck in the operation that threatened to hold up the company's expansion; it now has the flexibility to be able to increase its turnover by 200%.
