New label printer applicator saves time with fewer label changes

A label printer applicator suitable for the pharmaceutical sector has been launched by Videojet Technologies. The P3400 uses a high resolution thermal transfer printing technique and has easy-change electronics and air module, the company says. The system has a standard 350mm unwind reel (400mm optional) that results in fewer label changeovers, reduced downtime and increased productivity.

With a modular design for a seamless combination of the base system, a print engine and one of eight standard application modules, Videojet's P3400 also has an optical low-label sensor, which along with a 'one-screen set-up', make it an off-the-shelf solution that can be customised to suit most printing and packaging applications in the pharmaceuticals industry. The system's software features a multiple label configuration menu and user-configured beacon and status output. Other features include flight time compensation for automatic label placement control; shaft encoder input for variable speed conveyors; and rugged construction that can handle the most challenging environments.

'The P3400 modules give pharmaceutical customers a range of application options, allowing users to place a label wherever they want to, including boxes and pallets, corners and multiple panels,' said Olivier Bastien, Videojet's label printer applicator product manager in Europe.
