New screening system launched by Avantium
Avantium Technologies has developed a technology for the rapid optimisation of product purification.
Avantium Technologies has developed a technology for the rapid optimisation of product purification.
The technology, Avantium's Crystallisation Screening System (CRYSS), is offered as a contract research serice to the pharmaceutical, biotech and fine-chemical industries. CRYSS was developed in response to the pharmaceutical industry's need for the fast, cost efficient removal of impurities during the manufacture of intermediates or product.
CRYSS proves to be a powerful research tool when combined with Avantium's descriptor and modelling calculations. Avantium's use of design of experiments and principle component analysis enables comprehensive research into the crystallisation purification process, providing rapid solutions to otherwise intractable purification problems.
Vice president of Technology at Avantium Life Sciences, Dr Alan Smith, comments: 'We have developed a powerful tool for quickly optimising purification processes for multi-component mixtures. CRYSS is a novel technology to solve a problem that chemists have been faced with for decades. This technology is a good example of Avantium's rational screening approach.'
