New Synthaseal pack pioneers
Lancaster Synthesis has patented an innovative packaging system to protect air-sensitive chemicals and increase reusability and product shelf life. Iain Cooke, sales and marketing director, commented: 'We looked around the market for the ideal packaging for our products and it didn't exist - so we invented our own. The pack has the potential to save research chemical costs because of its extensive reusability.'
A year-long development programme resulted in SynthaSeal, a bottle and cap combination. The pack is based on a standard 100ml bottle with a specially manufactured flange. A tamper-evident aluminium crimped cap seals an air-tight PTFE-lined rubber septum to the bottle neck. The cap is also specially designed with an unusual rubber-backed PTFE liner to optimise the seal.
Lancaster is a leading research chemicals catalogue company with a range of 14,000 products including novel and difficult-to-source molecules. Initially 16 products will be offered in the SynthaSeal pack. Additional pack sizes are being considered for the future and Lancaster is also offering the packaging without products for use by other chemical suppliers.
