New Ventolin formulation approved

Published: 30-Jun-2001

The FDA has approved GlaxoSmithKline's Ventolin HFA (albuterol sulphate), a new version of the metered-dose inhaler to treat for asthma and other obstructive lung diseases, that uses Zephex 134a as the propellant. The supplier of the propellant, Ineos Fluor (formerly ICI Klea) expects to see a steady conversion of users to HFA inhalers following the early changeover from CFCs currently taking place in Europe. The Ventolin formulation is already approved in Europe.
