A New York printing company that specialises in medical labels has linked up with HealthWay, a manufacturer of equipment to improve indoor air quality, so that it can produce completely defect-free labels.
Syracuse, NY-based HP Mile, which has more than 75 years of experience in printing for the pharmaceutical industry, says small, ultrafine particles can be released during the printing process, potentially contaminating labels.
The company has invested in Pulaski, NY-based HealthWay's advanced DFS technology, which is proven to capture 99.99% of all particles down to 0.002 micron – ten times smaller than the smallest known virus size.
With this move, HP Mile claims to be the first printer in New York State to invest in clean air printing facilities.
Vinny Lobdell, President of HealthWay, commented: 'HP Mile's commitment to clean air not only provides a more advanced and defect-free product for its customers, but also shows its commitment to the health of its employees.'
He added: 'Mike Brady, CEO of HP Mile, is constantly on the leading edge of innovation in the printing industry and is always looking for ways to exceed customer expectations.'
HP Mile has the latest printing and inspection equipment. The company has full UV capability on its presses and several digital video inspection systems on its printing lines. The inspection process compares each label to a stored pdf image at speeds of up to 1,000 images a minute.
