Anachem, a UK supplier of high quality pipetting and laboratory supplies, has become part of precision and weighing instruments manufacturer Mettler Toledo International.

The Luton-based firm, which this year celebrates its fortieth anniversary, will continue to trade as Anachem.

The company says the move will strengthen its position in the liquid handling market.

"As part of the Metter Toledo organisation we will now be able to introduce our customers to the entire range of Rainin pipettes, which offer advances in ergonomics and performance - essential for today's demanding laboratory procedures," said Carole Staniford, marketing director of Anachem.

The Anachem and Rainin names have been aligned since Ken Rainin became one of the founder members of Anachem in 1970. Rainin itself became part of Mettler Toledo in 2001.

"The acquisition of Anachem will enable us better to serve customers in the UK and Ireland with our full product range, by providing the best local sales and service support," said Graham Eley, general manager of Mettler Toledo UK.

In addition to Rainin products, Anachem will continue to supply and service a range of laboratory equipment and consumables from other manufacturers.
