Bayer Technology Services Americas appoints head

Jim Stephanou will lead Baytown, Texas division

Jim Stephanou, currently vice president, Propylene Oxide Global Asset Management for Bayer MaterialScience in Pittsburgh, US will join Bayer Technology Services Americas on 1 November, succeeding Kirk Wilson, who is retiring. The change will be effective from 1 January 2011.

‘Jim Stephanou has already demonstrated his leadership qualities in various assignments. We are convinced that he has the right profile successfully to lead and further develop BTS Americas,’ said Dirk Van Meirvenne, managing director of Bayer Technology Services.

Van Meirvenne acknowledged the achievements of Wilson, who is ending his active career after many years of valuable service at Bayer. ‘We thank him for his commitment and wish him well for the future,’ he said.

Prior to joining Bayer, Stephanou was employed by ARCO Chemical Company (now Lyondell Basell Industries) from 1987 through 2000 in various engineering and manufacturing roles). He joined Bayer MaterialScience in 2001 as director of West Virginia Maintenance and Engineering before he was appointed vice president, production and technology TDI, NAFTA, a role he took from 2002 to 2005. In 2005, he was appointed vice president, Propylene Oxide Global Asset Management for Bayer MaterialScience.
