Marken expands Miami regional logistics centre
Newly consolidated logistics office and warehouse facility opens for US and Latin American customers
Marken has extended its facilities in Miami, FL, US to meet clinical trial logistics growth in Central and Latin America.
The newly expanded facility will continue to serve as a regional centre for in-bound biological samples, consolidation of shipments to and from the region, and provide additional storage capacity.
Marken will combine its office and warehouse into a single facility at the site, creating more offices for regional project management, customer service and global operations teams, and allowing greater operational efficiency.
The new distribution centre includes a large temperature controlled area to meet the growing demand for such shipments in and out of Central and Latin America.
Ernest Batista, Vice President, Logistics, for Marken's Latin America region, said on average the company distributes around 20,000 shipments from this office.
'With this expansion, Marken and our newest Miami location are now better equipped to grow with our clients. The expansion of our Miami facilities has been well co-ordinated with the opening of our new depots in Brazil, Chile and Peru. These investments also further demonstrate Marken's commitment to the clinical trial supply chain and logistics needs in the region,' he said.
The official inauguration of the Miami centre will take place next week (5 August), just two days before the official opening of Marken's San Paulo depot in Brazil. The company will host a technical workshop at the depot on 7 August, with more than 40 pharma clients participating.
