Not every company can boast a cameo part in one of the season's top action comedy movies. But such a role fell to Mettler Toledo, which supplied a set of equipment, including an analytical balance, a titrator, three precision balances and a printer, for the pharmaceutical laboratories in the English-made film The 51st State.
The film is the story of streetwise American master chemist Elmo McElroy who heads for England to set up his last big deal.
Although the equipment was only required on loan, in one scene the laboratory, along with all the equipment in it, is blown sky high. Fortunately, Mettler Toledo was able to provide two old balances for this scene, and the remainder of the equipment survived filming without a scratch.
